Reunion on Facebook

JT was right. Everybody is on Facebook. Make sure anybody you know who is not on there gets in.

Reunion?

I had a dream last night about some of you. We had a mini-reunion with a dozen of us, maybe. It was Halloween in Virginia City, or New Orleans--you know how dreams are. The two Cory's were riding in the back seat of an old Jeep Cherokee I was driving but it had really weird controls, so I didn't know how to drive it. Kind of embarrassing. We ate at a southern cooking buffet after we were given charge of a baby that was birthed by a zombie. We were on a yacht or something that went through some barges that became a roller coaster into a winter wonderland city.

So all that sounds like fun. Are we having a reunion, and who is going to put it together? This is the time to start planning. This year I am starting an annual theatrical production for the end of July. If I am going to make the trip to Nevada, I would like to get in as much as possible. My husband would be really motivated to come if it was either during Hot August Nights or the Reno Air Races. I know that makes accommodations difficult, but surely there's an old classmate who would be willing to put up me and my 8 kids *maniacal laughter*. Don't worry, my family is still there. Besides, with 28 of us Whitellians, how many hotel rooms could we take up?

That's my input. I am willing to help with some planning. No zombies or roller coaster yachts, I promise.

Are You Watching?

I love the Olympics. They did a segment on China's involvement with the '88 LA Olympics last night, and I thought of how well I remembered that. We were almost sophomores. The opening ceremonies were so over the top. That was the first time the set up a wild torch-lighting contraption that has had to be outdone ever since.

I missed a lot of the opening ceremony this year, but what I saw was certainly spectacular. If you haven't seen the Men's Relay repalys right now, you must be in Guam. What a stinkin' lot of fun that was to watch! Whenever I watch swimming, I think of Tarn and Suzanne because they are the only people I personally know who have done competitive swimming. Of course I shouldn't even be watching any of it. I close on a new house in two days with lots of cleaning and packing to do, and my 7 month old twins are trying to crawl off my bed next to me--except when they are busy giggling at each other.

What is your favorite Olympic memory?

Big Day

I am turning 36 today. Since I was one of the youngest in the class, I expect that most of you have already reached that milestone. I don't think too much about the passage of time as it relates to my age, but my face is really starting to show it. I remember when my mom was this age, because it is the age she was when I first met most of you. I have a son that is going to be a Freshman this year.

I look at myself and I see my mother's forehead, but my husband complains about me having "outdated" bangs--Hello! at least I don't try to make them stand straight up anymore. Unlike my mom at this age, I fortunately don't have grey hairs, but how noticeable would that be in strawberry blonde hair?

I don't have a problem with getting old, it's just the fact that I am certainly no longer what I remember myself as when I knew all of you so well--young.

Maybe I have lost some stupidity in the process. Maybe I am less naive (but not much). I think I'm finally an adult.
